The billion dollar four year project was recently opened by the her Royal Highness The Queen on her Australian visit in October.

PSG has been involved in the design and development of all electrical and communication systems for the project and had up to 350 staff working on the project at its peak.

The hospital features 200,000 square metres of floor space and over two and a half million metres of wiring to make it all work.
This project was the largest hospital project in Victoria and is a stunning, colourful and cheerful place for its young patients.

We were asked by PSG to video and photograph the new building for PSG to use in a profile and to capture the many magical aspects of the very child friendly hospital.

The hospital has an aquirium that spans several floors and its own meerkat zoo to provide a touch of fun into the patients stay there. The use of bright colours and drawings on the walls, doors and lifts were amazing to see.

The attention to detail of PSG’s work was highly evident from the wards through to the substations and generation systems behind the scenes. We are proud to have worked with PSG to document this truly amazing project.

Normus focus on independent living, medium density and accommodation for people with disabilities and those in need of constant care. This is highly demanding work and the specifications are extremely complex.

They have also been at the forefront of developing and building new homes in conjunction with the Government and councils called TOD, or Transport Oriented Development.

Normus has won significant awards in the last 2 years for some of the major projects they have undertaken.

To help promote their work to a myriad of developers and Government agencies, We worked on creating a series of presentations of their work based on Apple Keynote software.

We embedded video profiles on each sector and these are combined with a completely customised and personalised presentation unique to the business.

The videos include site footage and edited interviews with staff and major clients. The presentations are used at their head offices in St Peters in a custom built boardroom featuring High definition projection and quality audio.

The new presentations have been used in a series of meetings and client visits. The quality of the work has been widely commented on and the result is that the people viewing the presentation are getting a fresh and concise look at what Normus has to offer.

In the pursuit of providing safety initiatives for the wine industry SAWIA developed a wine safety interactive induction program (DVD).  This tool, funded  by Employers Mutual through its Member Benefit Program  was one which they believed could provide a consistent safety message to industry employers and employees whilst also contributing to any further reduction in injury rates.  The program provides general safety information for people entering the wine industry and can be used to enhance employers’ existing induction processes or as a means of refresher training for existing employees.

Since its launch in September 2011 SAWIA members’ have commented that the DVD will become an essential tool in their safety kit bag. SAWIA made some comments on the work we did with them below.

“SAWIA project managed the creation of the DVD Program, but we could not have achieved the final result without Jon Burke’s expert guidance.  Jon was tenacious in ensuring that all activities on the project plan were met “on time and within budget”. The production of the DVD was extremely complex and involved working with SAWIA’s OHSW Steering Committee and shooting at multiple members’ sites throughout South Australia. Without Jon’s overall experience of writing the script through to shooting the actual film footage we could not have achieved this fantastic result.”

Project Scope

• Video production of 28 minute HD video
• Production of desktop based interactive video training program
• Project management and consultancy with stakeholders and members with shoots in over 10 locations throughout SA over a 8 month timeline

The aim of the project is to empower new apprentices with some key safety information they can use to stay safe at work and to examine some key hazards in each sector and what they should do if they come across them.

Because of the wide range of trade options, the program is divided into a general induction video and five different sector videos covering the general trade areas. These are:

• Automotive and panel work trades
• Kitchen trades
• Horticultural trades
• Engineering ( electrical and mechanical)
• Construction (plumbing electro technology et al)

The sector videos vary between 12-25 minutes long and the induction video introduction is around 18 minutes in duration.

The project will be available on DVD shortly and launched in early 2012.

This challenging project has involved dozens of shoots with apprentices and stakeholders throughout South Australia and the safety content reviewed by SafeWork SA.
I would like to thank Employers Mutual and the committee of the the GTASA overseeing the project for their ongoing support. The project is also indebted to the many host employers and Health providers Work Air and CHG for the provision of specialist medical interviewees.

River Murray and Water Minister the Hon Paul Caica addressed the function and the industry celebrated the achievements of industry over the last 12 months.

jbcdv has been building the presentation for the night now for 5 years which includes 18 video reels for the award finalists and the entire on screen presentation slideshow which is custom designed for each years theme.

This year we ran the videos in full HD for the first time and this was attracted many highly positive comments from the association and viewers. This event is one we work on closely with the PIASA and look after a massive logistical exercise to make it happen smoothly on the night.

Planning for next year has started already!

PIASA Awards and SafeWork SA Awards – 2 nights at the Adelaide Convention Centre
On the 28th of October, I attended the SafeWork SA Awards cocktail function at the Adelaide Convention Centre. This was our first year on this project which involved shooting and editing 10 clips for the awards function. The show went well with over 300 attending the function and the clips and surrounding slideshow we produced with the SWSA team and Brad Keighran providing external design. Neville Clark once again mixed the audio and the overall result looked great in the room.

On the next night, Saturday, I was back in the same room with the same crew for the PIASA Awards which are profiled on the panel on my home page

Group Training Australia (SA) Celebrates 20 years
jbcdv client and fellow Eagles supporting Executive Officer, Mal Aubrey will be in the thick of it tonight along with Board Directors of GTA(SA) as they celebrate 20 years of apprentice training excellence.
We have worked individually with many members of GTA(SA) including the Austrailaian Industry Group Training Services, PIASA and others too.

Well done on a milestone and all the best for the next 20 years and beyond.
